Frequently Asked Questions

Am I allowed to bring my children to your wedding?

We love your children, but our wedding will be an adults-only event. Thanks for understanding.

Will there be events on Friday or Sunday of your wedding weekend?

Yes!

  • We are excited to kick off the weekend with you at our Welcome Party, hosted on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. at Buca D’oro Ristorante, located at 711 Locust Street. Beer, wine, and cocktails will be served.

  • On Sunday morning, we’d love to see you one final time before we head off to our honeymoon at our Farewell Brunch, located in the Renaissance Philadelphia Hotel at 401 Chestnut Street. A buffet of breakfast food and beverage will be served.

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Our ceremony will be indoors at Old St. Joseph’s Church. It is the oldest Catholic Church in Philadelphia, but thankfully it is air conditioned.

Our reception will be primarily indoors at the National Constitution Center, but cocktail hour will be held on the outdoor terrace should weather permit. The terrace will also be open to guests throughout the evening.

Is there a dress code for your wedding?

The short answer: formal attire, please! The longer answer: Come get fancy with us! Gentlemen are encouraged to wear your best suit and tie (or a tux if you want!), while ladies can opt for a floor-length gown or fancy cocktail dress.

Are the wedding venues wheelchair accessible?

Old St. Joe’s has been adapted for wheelchair accessibility at both the Willings Alley and Walnut Street entrances. The church also has assistive listening devices on site for those hard of hearing.

All entrances and spaces at the National Constitution Center are accessible to wheelchair users, and elevators are located throughout the building. Designated parking spaces are available in the NCC garage for guests with disabilities.

Will there be a gap between the ceremony and the reception?

We anticipate that there will be about 90 minutes between the end of the ceremony at Old St. Joseph’s and the beginning of cocktail hour at the National Constitution Center.

During that time, consider checking in to your hotel or enjoying one of the many attractions in the neighborhood. The Red Owl Tavern inside the Hotel Monaco, the lobby bar at the Renaissance Hotel, or Independence Beer Garden on 6th Street / Independence Mall West are convenient spots to enjoy a drink or a snack while you wait.

You can also go see the Liberty Bell if you want! It is right across the street.

Am I allowed to take photos or video at your wedding?

We ask that you please enjoy the day with us and refrain from taking photos or video during the ceremony or during other big moments, such as speeches or ceremonial dances. We will have professional photographers and videographers on-site capturing the day, and we will share an album with you on this website after the wedding day.

At other times throughout the day (and especially on the dance floor!), we welcome your photos and videos! We will have a QR code available on site at the reception which will allow you to upload all of your shots to a shared album, which will also be shared.

How far away are the venues from each other?

All of our wedding weekend locations — the church, the reception venue, the welcome party, the after party, and the hotels — are conveniently located within walking distance of one another.

  • From the hotels to Old St. Joseph’s, it is a 5-6 minute walk — a quarter-mile, or about a block and a half.

  • From the hotels to the National Constitution Center, it is a 7-9 minute walk — 0.35 miles, or about two city blocks.

For other travel details, including parking, please see the Travel + Stay page.

What food and drink will be available at the reception?

Hors d’oeuvres will be passed at cocktail hour, and a full four-course meal will be served at the reception. Bite-sized desserts will be passed around on the dance floor after dinner.

There will be an open bar with a selection of our signature cocktails, liquor, wine, beer, and hard seltzer.

Soft drinks and wooder will also be available, of course.
